Player housing will be easily decorated, useful for storage, and highly available.
In urban centers, apartments will be available for rent. These apartments will have restrictions on customization and higher storage limits.
In the suburbs, houses can be bought, from players or from the municipality. Houses can be built on empty lots. These houses will be larger, with more storage space, and more customization available. Gardens can be placed for small farming.
In the country, farms of varying sizes can be established. The larger the farm, the more intensive the upkeep.
Players will have the ability to adopt (a) profession(s), which can include those that create goods. The process of crafting goods will be interactive, like a minigame (but relevant). It will be more interesting than the usual grind.
Examples: Armor/Weaponsmith/Gunsmith, Farmer, Tailor, Architect, Cook, Artist, Engineer
Professions will also include those that provide services.
Examples: Doctor, Barber, Makeup Artist, Plastic Surgeon, Mechanic, Musician, Dancer
Players can maintain storefronts/offices to provide their goods/services. There will also be public markets and auctions.
There is also a possiblity of military/government careers. Of course, that means you can be a criminal, smuggler, or whatever. You can steal (with consequences).
- Possible opportunities:
- Deliveries
- Resource brokerage
- Player stores and marketplaces
- Missions
- Crime/Smuggling
- Police/Military work
- NPC Quests
- Entertainment
- Bartending
- Doctor/Medicine
- Crafting
- Services
- Real Estate
Combat will be real time, not turn based, and reflexive. You can hunt creatures, you can defeat blighted creatures, or you can battle NPC's or other players. There will be conflict to provide the latter. It will be story-based as well as player-influenced.
Combat will be essential to having military or criminal type opportunities.
That being said, killing is not the primary focus. There will be other ways to level up.
If this is an MMO, griefers better be prepared for the consequences. Remember that all players are supposed to SOMEBODY'S hero. NPCs will not tolerate. When they try to buy things, "IT'S THAT MURDERING SCUM!" They'll be forced to do business with players, and you know how greedy they are!
You want to keep doing it, expect the Authorities to come looking, and it will take every player in the game working together to beat the Authorities!
Public transportation: Trains, boats, planes, shuttles
Public transportation will be fast and consistent. It will be possible to continue your experience while you travel - there will be NPC's and opportunities on board a train, for example. You can set up meetings with other players on the train, or set up an impromtu office space for your services.
Player transportation: Land/water vehicles, shuttles/ships
The vehicles available to players will be customizable (at least in color and components), "require" registration and maintenance.
Player Avatars: Player clothing will be customizable. Dyes are a possibility, but preferable is getting your clothes from a player who is a tailor. Players can visit a barber, makeup artist, or plastic surgeon to make changes to their avatar after creation. The more skilled a player is in these professions, the more options they have for customization.
Items will also be customizable, whether by altering the stats of the item or the appearance (for applicable items). A player can have a vehicle, or a spaceship, and these can also be customized.
Want to go fishing? Sure. You can also play games and stuff.
There will be actual, real time (at least daily) updates on in-game news. There is a possibility of player contributions to the news (although logistically that may be difficult).
